Rigatoni with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic and basil

I finally went to the supermarket and stocked up yesterday, and came away happily laden with a fresh leafy basil plant, rigatoni, ditalini, chestnut mushrooms and my favourite brand of extra virgin olive oil. And half a melon, which now looks somewhat forlorn on the counter, as I forgot to pick up any parma ham to eat with it. 

Anyway, in honour of finding the rigatoni, which I think holds a sauce much better than penne, I made this slow cooked cherry tomato sauce, cut through with chunks of garlicky mushrooms and basil. Next time, I’d stir through some cubes of fresh mozzarella, though this was lovely as it was.
